Dr Brooke Nickel awarded the 2025 Outstanding Early Career Researcher at the NSW Premier’s Awards for Outstanding Cancer Research!

Congratulations Dr Brooke Nickel, awarded 2025 Outstanding Early Career Researcher at the #CancerNSWAwards.

As a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Emerging Leader Researcher and Senior Research Fellow in the University of Sydney, School of Public Health, Dr Nickel leads collaborative research across the Wiser Healthcare Research Collaboration, the Sydney Health Literacy Lab, and the Daffodil Centre.

Her research focuses on evidence-based cancer communication and decision making, and the psychosocial impact of cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment.

She currently works with BreastScreen programs and services, leading the world’s first randomised controlled trial on breast density notification to ensure that changes to population-based cancer screening programs are evidence-based.
